Today we going to focus on the heart. After we looked at grounding and stress regulation and joy, I want to speak a bit about the function of our heart. Of course, many people associate with heart, our physical heart, which is also one of our close friends over many, many decades. And so there’s the physical heart. Then there is our emotional heart, like our heart is also like a center of feeling, a center of feeling emotionally connected. It summarizes our emotional experience through our upbringing. So every energy center of our body is basically representing a certain part of our maturation development attachment. And so when we unfold into the energy of our heart, when our center of development comes up to the heart, we usually, that’s our blossoming into maturity.
And so when we become mature human beings, then we can connect our individual personal experience to the world, become part of a society, find our place in the society, take responsibility in the society, know what we want to contribute to society, and be in a fluid exchange of giving and receiving within a framework, social framework. But that’s already a very complex function that we develop. And sometimes we all know how it feels when parts of our development couldn’t fully fulfill themselves. And we come back into much more regressive, much more ego centered, much more me-centered places, or often also much younger places where we cannot be in that exchange.
A lot of the healing work and the trauma work is here for us to reach that maturity, but also through an open heart, as we said on day two, through regulating my nervous system, what Steve Porges calls the social engagement zone. I’m in a regulated place in my nervous system, much more able to relate to the world around me, to people around me, and be in that giving and receiving economy. So on the one hand, the heart combines is kind of the culmination of our maturation, development. On the other hand is also receiving our higher capacities, also our spiritual development that is more connected to the upper centers of our nervous system. And so the heart becomes a combination of maturation, my personal experience, the relationship to the world, and my higher development that all meet in what I often call the supercomputer. So our heart is like the computer, the supercomputer, where all those functions get processed and connected.
And so today I would love to go again into a guided contemplative place or journey and explore the power of our heart. On the one hand, the integration power, many qualities in us and between inside and outside, but also the listening, because deepening my awareness of my heart through my heart, where many people can through their heart go into a deeper inner place that becomes a little bit more spacious, more open, creates more space around my individuality or my personality, and it gives me access. It’s like a beautiful excess gate into my inner world. Also, in feeling my inner world, it’s also the place where I can connect my mind, my thinking with my emotions and my physical body. We call the Three Sync Meditation.
And maybe we can dive a little bit into our heart right now. And of course, it depends what’s happening in our life, what our life triggers right now in us. Sometimes we feel very open, we feel my heart’s very open. Sometimes I feel more protected or more stressed, and it gives us a sense of my heart’s a closed take a moment to just check in. When you feel your heart space, you feel into your chest and your heart space, talking now about the energy center of the heart, you just notice this. It opens spacious, vast, more tight, tense, protected. I feel stress in the heart or calmness. And every contemplation starts with
An embrace of what is. I can’t just suppress what is and continue because then it’ll keep me bound to the suppression. But I can connect and respect what I find because whatever I find in myself to be respected, acknowledged, and as I acknowledge my current state, and I can again, maybe with some breath support of my breath drop a little bit deeper as if my heart was a well and it has a dimension of depths, I can go deep into my heart space by going into a deep space, the more superficial movements, then there is a deeper well. I want to connect to the depth of your heart, which is where your individual interior space and a more collective or world space communicate like a membrane. Individual heart starts to communicate with a collective or universal heart.
Individual intelligence meets universal intelligence lines of a prayer, the silence of my heart. I am and in the stillness of my heart, my hair, dne, I begin to resonate with a much deeper or wider intelligence. It resides in the silence. It resides in the well, deep down in the depths of my heart and a highly intelligent presence. It goes beyond my personal experience is deeply grounded in being and out of being. Becoming. If you want, if you have time, you can again stay in this meditation and not tend to take a couple of deeper breaths, slowly come back or open your eyes, and then practicing that meditation. Often also, maybe during the day, keeping an awareness of the depth dimension of the heart. There’s literally a depth. Often this shows up only even we practice it regularly.
That depth is literally like permeable membrane where my personal pulsing and my personal heart space kind of communicate and open up into a much more universal intelligence by reciting at that place, knowing insights, deeper understanding, deeper coherence can arise and also gives me over time as I practice, that it gives me another capacity to listen, listen to life, to listen to myself, to listen to others, and to listen to the amazing coherence or incoherence that we see every day unfolding around us. But both coherence and incoherence can find a home in the depth of our hearts.
There’s a space that goes beyond separation, and there’s a home for separation to melt. And as I often say, the fruits of our practice, sometimes not just immediate, but are growing over time, and we can harvest them after some time. We see that new capacities or functions or competencies arise ut of the practice.
